Healing Stages & After Care

eyeliner makeup

After your appointment

1. Do not touch the tattooed area.

2.  Immediately after your procedure, you may notice fluid oozing from the area, this is your blood plasma and some extra tattoo ink. Lightly pat dry (DO NOT RUB) the area with the cotton pad provided in your kit to remove and avoid build up of plasma. This will help avoid scabbing.

3. The first 3 mornings ONLY, you will lightly clean the tattooed area (CLEAN HANDS) with lukewarm water & fragrance- free anti-bacterial soap. DO NOT rub harshly. Make sure to rinse all the soap off and then pat dry with a clean paper towel/tissue.

4. After you have cleansed with soap and dried, you will apply a very thin layer (rice grain amount) of Aquaphor Healing Ointment. Be sure not to over-apply, as this will suffocate your skin. You will apply Aquaphor again at night (no soap wash at night, only Aquaphor).

TO SIMPLIFY AFTERCARE HOMEWORK:

Aquaphor twice every day for 7 days (morning and night)

Anti-bacterial soap for first 3 days (morning only)

DO NOT apply anything else other than the Aquaphor provided.

KEEP IN MIND: Your brows WILL LOOK DARK for the first few days. It can feel a bit dramatic and scary at first but patience and trust is key when getting your brows tattooed! Once they finish healing they will appear 15-20% lighter.

Note: When taking a shower, make sure to tilt your head back to avoid water on the tattooed area. Do not face the shower head directly. (You can apply a thick layer of Aquaphor to the area when showering so that it may act as a barrier and protect it from the water)**

Avoid these things for the first week:

  • Increased sweating (exercise)

  • Swimming

  • Hot sauna/hot tub/Jacuzzi/Steam Room/*Direct Sun/Tanning

  • UV/UVA or chemicals/peelings/and/or any creams containing

  • Retin-A or Glycolic acid on the face

  • Avoid picking, peeling, or scratching. Allow any scabs that form, to fall off on their own. The longer the scab remains on, the better retention.

IMPORTANT THINGS TO REMEMBER

  • A 6-8 week follow up is recommended to consider them complete. After this touch up, yearly touch ups are recommended.

  • Permanent makeup is a two-step process and can last up to 1-3 years depending on your aftercare, skin type and lifestyle. Please keep in mind that it may take a full month before you see true results. This is because our skin sheds and regenerates. Permanent makeup is an important investment, please take all the steps like pre/after care seriously.

  • If you are out in the sun a lot, have heavily oily skin, use anti-aging creams, Retin-A/retinol products, acidic cleansers, natural elements, regular chemical peels, or exercise frequently, your permanent makeup may fade prematurely, however, this isn't necessarily a bad thing. Permanent makeup should not look like an actual tattoo. The pigment is applied on the upper dermis which will allow it to fade slightly overtime; making it look as natural as possible, which is why yearly refreshers are recommended.

  • Client results will vary and using a pencil or powder may still be needed, especially during those super glam makeup days.

  • The better you take care of the treated area, follow the provided aftercare, and come in for your 6-8 week touch up, the longer it will last.

  • The touch up appointment is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED and should be scheduled 6-8 weeks after your initial appointment. We cannot accept your touch up appointment prior to 6 weeks as we need to give adequate healing time to your permanent makeup. If you book after 8 weeks, additional fees will apply.

  • It is then suggested to do touch ups every 12 months to maintain color.
